The secret ingredient to fine porcelain is kaolin, and its discovery by the French in 1768 marked the birth of Limoges porcelain. Leonard Bernardaud worked first as a workshop apprentice and then as a partner of one of the first Limoges porcelain factories. In 1900, he bought the company and continued to expand through his innovative ideas and foresight to collaborate with artists. Today, Michel Bernardaud represents the fifth generation of family leadership in the company. With an unwavering preservation of artisan techniques and a forward-thinking approach to design, the company remains one of the few original porcelain manufacturers from Limoges.
