About Burstenhaus Redecker
The first Redecker brushes were made by hand in 1935 in North Western Germany, by Friedel Redecker. Friedel went blind at the age of 4, and when operations did not improve his vision, he was enrolled in a school for the blind. During that time, standard education for the blind was to learn the art of brushmaking. It was there that Friedel learned the trade that he later used to start a business which over the years grew from selling in small market stalls to shipping overseas for international customers. Today, the company is operated by the son and grandson of Friedel Redecker, who continue to produce high quality brushes and housewares from the best natural and sustainable materials in Versmold, Germany.
